Managing your Physical Presences

In Galvix, you can manage details about your business’s physical locations and workforce, including employees, offices, and warehouses. Galvix needs this information for determining your nexus status, as many states require businesses with a physical presence to register for sales tax.


Any updates made in this module will instantly impact your nexus status based on each state's specific requirements. Keeping this information accurate ensures compliance and helps Galvix determine where you may need to register and collect sales tax.

To understand how different types of physical presence affect your nexus status in various states, go to Nexus Tracker, click on a state on the map, and view that state’s specific physical nexus requirements.

Adding a Physical Presence


To add a new Physical Presence, navigate to Physical Presences from the left menu. Here, you’ll see a list of any existing physical presences and an "Add Physical Presence" button. Click this button to begin.


In the form that appears:

  1. Select the jurisdiction where you are adding a physical presence.
  2. Choose the physical presence type. (Select one)
    1. Employee
    2. Establishment

If the physical presence type is ‘Employee’:

  • Select Employee Type. (Select one)
    • Contractor
    • Direct.
  • Enter the Employee’s Name.
  • Select the Date on which the employee started working for your business.
  • Choose the Employee's Department. (Select one)
    • Sales
    • Marketing
    • Support
    • Others

If the physical presence type is ‘Establishment’:

  • Select Establishment Type. (Select one)
    • Warehouse
    • Office
  • Enter the Establishment Name (e.g., "Alabama Office").
  • Select the date on which the establishment started its operations.

Once completed, you can:

  • Click "Save and Add Next" to continue adding more physical presences.
  • Click "Save and Close" to finalize the process.

Updating a Physical Presence


To update details of an existing physical presence:

  1. Navigate to Physical Presences from the left menu.
  2. Select the physical presence you want to update.
  3. On the details page, click "Edit" to open the update form.

In the form, you can modify:

  • Physical Presence Type
  • Employee/Establishment Type
  • Name
  • Start Date
  • Department (if the presence type is ‘Employee’)

Click "Save" to apply your changes.
